Just so I don't feel like a complete failure..

The other day I was at a fireside and the speaker talked a WHOLE lot on journal keeping, and well I am not very good, thats why I started a blog. Maybe cause I'm on the computer quite a bit it would get me to do it,  and this hasn't been a successful attempt either.  I thought that maybe if i did a quick update I wouldn't feel quite as bad.  So here is another blog update to keep me feeling like I'm not a complete failure for the next little while.  I am in Logan for my third year and it's been pretty good so far.  Classes are a whole lot harder, I am still trying to figure out what do major in so that is on my mind a whole lot.  when im not in class or at the library, i try to have a little bit of fun.

recently...

recently my life has been pretty uneventful.

recently i went to the lakers vs. jazz game on the 10th. there were too many lakers fans there for my liking. come on utah, where is your loyalty? we won though! it was a close game!

recently i have been doing a lot of homework, and going to class.

recently i lost my camera charger, so i have no pictures because my camera is taking a long nap.

recently (yesterday) was valentines day, i made dinner for my roommates, it was tasty. maybe next year we wont have to make dinner for ourselves, wouldn't that be great?

recently i have been pretty grateful that this winter has been super warm.

recently i have decided that cooking can be fun and relaxing.

recently i have been really grateful to have knowledge of the gospel.

recently i have been sick, i am finally getting better.

recently i realized how boring this post is.. oh well

a post about the break.

in no particular order, well i actually wrote them in order, but i uploaded the pictures last and dont want to switch them to the right order.

jazz game. i got a call at 6:30 from my dad saying that brent had tickets to the jazz game, so i called up brent and he picked me, kaydee, and jdahl tickets. we got there and the seats ended up being on the 12th row! it was crazy! they played the trailblazers and we won a very close game. it was heaps of fun!
im a big modern family fan, and ty burrell (aka. phil dumphy) was there! i have acutally met him before at erika's wedding. he is the one, right in the middle, wearing a royal blue jacket and a brown hat.
it's memo! one of his last games playing for the jazz. very sad.

so the saturday after finals utah state was in the famous idaho potato bowl in boise. my dad, clark, michelle, jdahl and myself all traveled up there to see it. we ate lunch at the old spaghetti factory, then we went to the game. it was freezing, and the end was disappointing to say the least, but it was well worth the experience. i have to say utah state has some very loyal fans. we drove back home right after the game was finished. it was a great day!
the almost full stadium
this is glen, his brother, jdahl and big blue! the thought of getting in the picture and having someone else take the picture didnt occur to me till after. oh well

christmas eve started with us going to help pack the moving van for jordan and laura's cross country move. then we had dinner and grandpa parker read Luke 2, then we went to bed.

christmas morning everyone was at the house and santa came! we opened presents and had abelskievers (alligators) for breakfast, then we went to church. the rest of christmas day consisted of an excellent nap and some movie watching. jordan, laura and lucy came and said their goodbyes, which was sad, but fun because they get to start a new chapter of their lives together. christmas was really great this year, i really love celebrating christmas on sunday. sidenote, me and dee got emma and abbi gunea pigs for christmas and were really excited to surprise them with it, there reaction wasnt quite what we expected, but kyle's reaction was well worth it. ha ha.

new years eve i was invited to dinner to be kaydee's date. we went to joy luck, went back to the bairs and played games. i actually watched the ball drop. it was great!

new years day was sunday and i got to speak in church. i thought moving away from home would keep me safe from having to speak in sacrament meeting at the home ward. i was mistaken.

the week after that was very relaxing, spending time with family, kyle and jessica move and catching up with friends. i am really looking forward to the new semester and am excited about the new year!

something in the water?

so the past couple of weeks have been a roller coaster. thanksgiving break was great! a much needed break. it was an off year at my house so all of the siblings were at their in-laws. so this meant that it was just me and the parentals. the original plan was to go to st. george and visit grams and gramps, but that fell through. i was sad, but at the same time happy. i think i just needed to be at home. the saturday after thanksgiving we had family pictures, a rare occurrence in my household, but because jordan and laura are moving to atlanta, they wanted a walker family photo. i was surprised how good they actually turned out. we had a great family lunch afterwards.
well after thanksgiving break it was time to get back to school. it is that time of the year, finals are going to be the pits. my apartment has had a number of breakdowns this week, some were sick, some stressed, and some emotionally drained. but of course there is something to be learned with all the trials of the week. i learned that the trials of others can be even more beneficial to you. i have learned a lot this week. i am so grateful for the way our savior teaches us through others.

in other news there was a huge windstorm that hit davis county. i didn't know about it till a while after it happened, it sounds like it was crazy town. i was kind of sad that i missed it, i am glad that everyone is okay. its amazing how a disaster can bring people together. there is supposed to be another big windstorm tonight. hopefully it isn't too devastating.

two more weeks.. then it is christmas break. utah state made it to a bowl game! it is in boise, and i am going. so pumped!

weekend |ˈwēkˌend| noun the period from Friday evening through Sunday evening, esp. regarded as a time for leisure

this last week was great! the byu vs. usu basketball game was on friday night. but that all started on wednesday at what was called occupy the spectrum. we had to get groups of 6 people and line up to get wristband that was guarantee us a camp spot so that we could camp to get a spot in line to get into the spectrum. so we got 3 groups of 6 together to go to the game, we planned so that everyone would have a check-in time. it was great, some may call it crazy but it was worth i
t! i even got on t.v. if you want to see click here. i am not looking at the camera but kaydee is the one waving. so after 2 nights of camping and waiting in line for hours we got into the spectrum to watch a great game of some great plays and some bad calls, but the aggies came out with the victory winning 69-62 if you have never attended a basketball game in the spectrum, it is an experience like no other. saturday we went to the football game in the snow, and that ended up being a great game to watch, with the utah state winning by one point. aside from the cold toes. it was a great week for utah state athletics!!! this weekend was a reminder of why i love utah state.

way back when

the other day i was walking back from campus, so i called jessica to have a little chat. i asked her what she was doing that day and she told me that the girls (girls being my 3 little nieces) were having fun coloring all morning. when the thought came to my head. sometimes i wish life was back to the simplicity it was when i was a little tike. when the hardest decision i had to make was what mickey mouse shirt i wanted to wear, or what picture in my disney coloring book i should color? i have found myself lately faced with a massive amount of decisions that i need to make that are going to determine how my life is in the future. it has been hard because up till this point life has been mapped out for me (for the most part), but now is the time when i have to make life changing decisions. then a friend showed me this talk and it helped me out tremendously. it is called 'Life's Greatest Decisions' by President Thomas S. Monson. i am really grateful for the inspired words of the prophet. after i read this it made me realize that all the decisions i have made thus far, if you think about it, are equally as important as the decisions that i am making now, they just don't carry quite the same everlasting effect. they have also prepared me as much as possible to make the right decisions for the future. granted it still wont be easy, but it is much better to look at it with this perspective.
sorry for this little spill of thoughts, but that's just what has been on my mind lately, and that's what blogs are for right?

i am going to do this.. for real

so the whole idea of blogging is really great.. unless you are like me and cant really stick to one thing for very long. but i am raising my hand and saying out loud that i am going to make this blog work. it may not be a daily thing or even a weekly thing, but i wont go for a year in between posts. i am a big fan of journal writing except for the fact that i don't do it. so i'm going to give this a chance and see what i can do with it. i am not a great writer, but its not really about that right? well now that the business has been taken care of, i just want to reminisce about what i did all summer up until now. i got a job working for the state of utah with my uncle curtis and my cousin amy. i was what you call an inventory support specialist, great title, except we didn't do much inventory. i don't even know how to explain what this job was, except a great learning experience. i learned so much about computers, how to deal with people and their problems, how to juggle different tasks and what it is like to work in an office. i loved it and will take the experiences i have from it with my for life. in august my family went on the annual mccall camping trip with the neighborhood families. i love this trip and look forward to it all year long, its up there with christmas. whats better than being in the woods right next to a lake boating and roasting marshmallows and eating at ice cream alley all week? its pretty hard to beat. well this year was pretty special because the condo my family has had for many years was sold and it was the last time we got to stay there. it was a sad day. after mccall we came back and it was time to get ready for school. i moved up back to old farm b4 and life is going great!
