way back when

the other day i was walking back from campus, so i called jessica to have a little chat. i asked her what she was doing that day and she told me that the girls (girls being my 3 little nieces) were having fun coloring all morning. when the thought came to my head. sometimes i wish life was back to the simplicity it was when i was a little tike. when the hardest decision i had to make was what mickey mouse shirt i wanted to wear, or what picture in my disney coloring book i should color? i have found myself lately faced with a massive amount of decisions that i need to make that are going to determine how my life is in the future. it has been hard because up till this point life has been mapped out for me (for the most part), but now is the time when i have to make life changing decisions. then a friend showed me this talk and it helped me out tremendously. it is called 'Life's Greatest Decisions' by President Thomas S. Monson. i am really grateful for the inspired words of the prophet. after i read this it made me realize that all the decisions i have made thus far, if you think about it, are equally as important as the decisions that i am making now, they just don't carry quite the same everlasting effect. they have also prepared me as much as possible to make the right decisions for the future. granted it still wont be easy, but it is much better to look at it with this perspective.
sorry for this little spill of thoughts, but that's just what has been on my mind lately, and that's what blogs are for right?

i am going to do this.. for real

so the whole idea of blogging is really great.. unless you are like me and cant really stick to one thing for very long. but i am raising my hand and saying out loud that i am going to make this blog work. it may not be a daily thing or even a weekly thing, but i wont go for a year in between posts. i am a big fan of journal writing except for the fact that i don't do it. so i'm going to give this a chance and see what i can do with it. i am not a great writer, but its not really about that right? well now that the business has been taken care of, i just want to reminisce about what i did all summer up until now. i got a job working for the state of utah with my uncle curtis and my cousin amy. i was what you call an inventory support specialist, great title, except we didn't do much inventory. i don't even know how to explain what this job was, except a great learning experience. i learned so much about computers, how to deal with people and their problems, how to juggle different tasks and what it is like to work in an office. i loved it and will take the experiences i have from it with my for life. in august my family went on the annual mccall camping trip with the neighborhood families. i love this trip and look forward to it all year long, its up there with christmas. whats better than being in the woods right next to a lake boating and roasting marshmallows and eating at ice cream alley all week? its pretty hard to beat. well this year was pretty special because the condo my family has had for many years was sold and it was the last time we got to stay there. it was a sad day. after mccall we came back and it was time to get ready for school. i moved up back to old farm b4 and life is going great!
